Nusfjord, Norway
There are many exciting details to study in the view of Nusfjord, looking towards its first quay, the old
general store and behind it the landowner’s main building.
This fishing village is one of the best kept
and most picturesque in the whole of Lofoten. Many of the fifty buildings worthy of preservation date back
to the 18th and 19th centuries. Thirty-four of them are fishermen’s shacks that once accommodated the crews
and equipment for the Lofoten fishing, but have now been modernized and are let to tourists today.
The buildings in Nusfjord have no outstanding architectural features, but they represent a unique part
of the history of settlement and way of life in Norway.
